Despite the fact that there are a fair number of bike lanes, and some enjoyable areas for bicycling exist, Southdale is not particularly cycling-friendly as bicycle riders are faced with a significant amount of hills. Travelling by car is very easy in this part of the city. It is easy to park, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 7, from any location in Southdale. However, Southdale is not an especially pleasant part of Kitchener for getting around by public transit. Nevertheless, rapid transit stations, such as Mill Station on the 301 | Ion, are generally a short walk away from the majority of homes in the neighbourhood. Homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences.

It is often feasible for property owners in Southdale to shop for groceries on foot. Moreover, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a good number of choices. When it comes to education, both primary and secondary schools are easy to reach on foot from anywhere in this part of Kitchener. People who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy Southdale. It is very easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to relax in. The noise levels in this area are also low, as the streets are usually quite calm - however noise can be an issue around the railway line or Highway 7.
