This part of the city is especially suitable for walking; all common errands can be run on foot, and numerous businesses are reasonably nearby. Thanks to about 20 nearby bus lines, travelling by public transit is very convenient in this part of Victoria. On the other hand, cars are a sometimes poor transportation option in this area because it is challenging to park, and it is a very long car ride to the nearest highway from anywhere in this neighbourhood.

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in this area. In addition, owing to 20-odd restaurants and cafes in Harris Green, there is usually a spot to get a meal or a beverage just around the corner. It is also a short distance to a very good selection of clothing stores. Despite the fact that there is a narrow selection of entertainment venues, there are masses of people around most of the time, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located very close by. Main streets, such as Fort Street, are excellent for those who enjoy going out. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to explore and they are especially well-located, which makes it very easy to reach them.
