About Living in Pickering, Ontario
Transportation
Driving is a great transportation option in Pickering. It is very easy to park. However, commuting by transit can be difficult in Pickering by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, residents can rely on the Pickering Station on the Lakeshore East Line. There are around 10 bus lines passing through the city. This part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area is not very suitable for walking since carrying out day-to-day needs is challenging on foot. Pickering is also not very bicycling-friendly as the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and there is a significant amount of slopes.
Services
Reaching one of around 20 grocery stores on foot is an option for some, but not all, house buyers in Pickering. A limited selection of restaurants and cafes can be found as well. When it comes to education, high schools and primary schools are not especially plentiful in Pickering, and consequently not always within walking distance. Moreover, it can be difficult to access daycares on foot.
Character
The noise levels in Pickering are low, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to Highway 407, Highway 401 or one of the railway lines. It is rather challenging to get to green spaces in the city since they are distributed sporadically. Despite that, there are a few parks close by for residents to explore.
